Question 94
Many atheists have pets. What kinds of pet/s do you have and why
did you choose that particular type of pet?
- A German Shorthair pointer named Gunner.
I chose a dog because dogs' instincts closely align with my own. We're
both pack hunters and social animals, so we have a great deal in common.
(Bill Thacker #1363)
- I am currently the slave to two female furballs (one 19, the other almost 14).
Always have been a cat person, for many reasons, including their
attitude, independence, curiosity, and that wonderful purring noise.
(Keith Brannen #713)
- I have two corn snakes named: Ozzy and Lita. They chose me, so I
guess I'm their pet. (CTThegreat)
- I have the requisite two dogs and two cats. But a few years ago I bought an Iguana for my wife. I don't think it provides the blood
pressure and stress reductions of my furry friends, but he sure is keen
to look at. I recommend them. Very low mantainence. (Brad Goodhouse #666)
- In our house we have 3 dogs, two of which is a mother and daughter,
as well as, a cat who is the boss and was our first pet. (DeeAnne
Doseman-Flaws #112)
- I, personally, am responsible for only one animal that currently resides with us. That would be our 11 year old Rotweiller named
Gretchen. Linc, a white German Shephard, just showed up one day and
decided to adopt us. As for the rest, I lay blame at the feet of my
wife and two daughters. We have Queenie, a part Border Collie and part something else; two goats, Ruby and Faylene (sp?); four rabbits, ten
ducks, five (or is it six) chickens, and... aw geez... somewhere in
the neighborhood of 12-15 cats of all shapes, sizes, and colors.
They're scheming for horses next. *sigh* (Mongo76 #7)
- I have one cat, a HUGE orange tabby named Reggie. I did not choose
this pet, my family did, but we've had him for eight years now, and he
kinda grows on you. :o)
I'm pretty sure I would be a cat person under any circumstances. Unlike dogs, cats are extremely independent-minded beings -- often to the annoyance of others. In that respect, they're much like freethinkers.
( Dave Holloway #1184)
- My son and I have two rats (really cute albino ones) and an iguana.
No real thought process went into them, I work at a college, and the science dept. got a bunch of rats for an experiment that never happened,
so they were going to be given away as snake food, so the dept.
coordinator gave them away as pets instead. I am also an actor, and am currently in a production of "The Taming of the Shrew." One of my cast mates' teenage son had lost interest in his iguana, so she sold it to me.
(Stan Paul)
- I have a matched set of white cats. I had cats when I was young,
and I learned how they show affection. When you get a good cat, it's a great experience, and they're clean and (most of the time) pretty quiet critters. (Nemo #1331)
- Two cats.
One dog.
Tank o' fish.
I am a cat person. We have two middle-aged, fat, lazy, indoor cats named Toto and Kisa.
I never really liked dogs. They were always annoying and smelly. But then we met Gremlin
(aka "Ratboy", aka "Wizzie", aka "The Greater North American Speckled Wizzie", aka "Captain
Buzz-Butt"). Gremlin is a rat terrier and the coolest dog I have ever met. No odor, smart as
whip, and generally pleasant to be around. Too bad he is nothing like a rat terrier is
supposed to be :P. (Dan Talso #236)
