Question 73
As an atheist, what is your darkest desire?
- Well there's ... no, I better not.
Okay how about .. uh, uh, not that one either.
Actually, if I could be invisible and had infinite powers, there would be
a bunch of child abusers, abortion clinic bombers, racists and other such lovely people who would have very short life expectancies.
(Scott Davidson #1045)
- To have a machine that could look back into time (to any time or any place). I would use it to televise the life of Jesus (if he actually existed), in an attempt to put an end to the debate over the validity of
Christianity. (pan)
- To ship all the most stridently religious people off the planet onto their own little world, preferably one with few metals and no radioactives.
I also get a sense of moral satisfaction when a famous religious person
does something that proves what a hypocrite he/she is, and I would love it if I read stuff like that in the paper every day. (Aviva #1484)
- I want to live happily ever after (here on Earth, not happily ever afterlife). Other than that nebulous desire, I already experience what I desire to experience and so far, it has been very good.
I do want to go white-water rafting sometime. (Liz Huth #658)
- My darkest desire? You mean something illegal or unethical? Hmm, I'm
not sure. I have lots of things which are intriguing to *think* about,
such as taking revenge on people who have done me wrong. But I wouldn't
ever do any of these things in real life. My conscience would really bother me if I did. (Anna #1490)
- My darkest desire -- as an atheist -- is that the most outspoken Christian fundamentalists (Falwell, Reed, the godhatesfags dude, etc.) themselves go down in flames after some particularly humiliating and shameful experience that is made public.
Probably an overly simplistic answer, but I'm disappointed that such hateful people, using their hateful scriptures to justify their
hateful attacks, actually carry credibility in this nation. It'd be fun to see them go down! (Tony Livernois #1440)
- I don't really have any *dark* desires. My biggest disire, though, is
to be able to quit work and travel the world on a 50 + ft. sailboat.
AAAAAAAHHHHHHH, the true heaven on Earth. (Crazybeast #1477)
- I don't know about dark as in evil. Maybe dark as in secret.
I desire an isolated place in the country where I could live as a hermit
in peace and quiet. Free from the corporate state. Meditating, reading, thinking and soaking up a beautiful landscape while growing and living on natural food. (Peter Kelly #1417)
- Well I have this rather weird dream that I sometime have the 'super power' that makes people face their stupidity. For example, the bloody stupid woman who decided to drive blindly out onto a main road whilst looking in the opposite direction nearly sqaushing me, my wife and my son
in his pushchair flat! I would have sent her into a virtual reality where she could see the worst case scenario, the effects on all the families,
the pain and suffering all caused by her carelessness. In other words
being able to make someone feel the maximum guilt possible. As you can
tell, I have an intense dislike for the dangerously ignorant and stupid.
