What is the worst theist argument you've ever heard? What theist question are you most tired of?

• I've been trying to figure out just what is the worst. There are just so many. I'm going to go with....Not believing in God is proof that God exists. I don't know how anyone can take that argument seriously.

  Several:

  1) "Well, so where did the Universe come from if there's no God?" Where did "God" come from doesn't seem to bother them...
  2) "So if there's no God, then what's to stop me from running around killing people?", or similar questions. I wonder if the questioners realize that the question says a lot more about them than it does about atheists.
  3) Insert your favorite idiot Creationist question here about the age of the Earth/universe/fossil record/etc... (raven1 #1508)

• Worst argument I ever heard (paraphrasing):

  "The story of Moses must be true. They made a movie out of it!" (This was from an actual caller to my public access TV show, "The Atheist Experience", which airs every Sunday morning at 10 am on cable channel 16 in Austin, Texas).

  Most tiresome question (paraphrasing):

  "So, you don't believe in ANYTHING?" (Jeff Dee #366)

• The two unshakable pillars of xtian belief are: 1. Pascal's Wager 2. The Argument From Design The worst theist argument was from the daughter of an Australian minister who used to post to alt.theism. She wrote a whole sermon on the subject:

  "If you find fault with God, then the the fault must be with you."

  The second worst xtian thought is:

  "To be a good xtian you must despise yourself." (Clothaire #1392)

• 'People become atheists because they want to lead 'sinful' lives'.

  Not only is this argument insulting (because it assumes that someone cannot become an atheists on rational grounds); it is also ludicrous (because it suggests that atheists actually believe in God, but choose to live their lives *like* they don't believe). (pan #1432

• The worst I've ever heard: In the now defunct online "Creation - Evolution Encyclopedia" one of the "disproofs" of abiogenesis was that no chemical reactions could have taken place, since there is no labratory equipment in nature.

  The one I'm most tired of: Pascal's Wager. I have never changed my view based on this, and will not until I see some fairly convincing evidence of Hell. (Kevin Gassaway#1774)
