Could we come up with a set of moral laws or rules to replace the 'ten' commandments?

• I'd hate to act like a xian here and plagarise, but I think the Wiccans have it right. As long as it harms no one, do what you will (Duckfeet #1711)

• I'm sure we could, but whenever morality is written in stone,the pavement under your feet starts to crumble. Dogmatic morality is just as dangerous as total immorality, IMHO. (Kalle Helenius #1550)

  Perhaps it would be preferable to have a few guiding principles rather than a list of rules.

  Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

  How about...
  Strive to create, grow, harmonize, learn.

  Or the same thing expressed in terms of negatives...
  Avoid destruction, reduction of diversity, conflict,certainty and rigidity of thought.

  7) Thou shalt not trust a mechanic for they are liars and betrayers and shalt seperate thee from thou hard earned money. 8) Thou shalt not treat creationism as a science (this is a mortal sin!). Thou shall teach evolution as a theory of science in classes devoted to science.

  9) Thou shalt treat children, all children not just the fruit of thy loins, with love and kindness.
